Electrophysiology (EP) Testing

This is an electrical study of the heart done by placing electrodes through veins in the veins of the leg to the heart to measure the electrical activity of the heart’s conduction system and observe the response to pacing maneuvers or medications.

Preparation for procedure:

  1. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight, other small sips of water with your medications, prior to the procedure unless instructed by your doctor.
  2. Depending on your other medical conditions you will often be discharged the same day as the procedure, though your medical condition may require you to stay overnight in the hospital.
