Cardioversion
During this procedure an electric current is placed through a patient’s chest after the patient is sedated to “reset” the heart rhythm.
Preparation for procedure:

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight, other small sips of water with your medications, prior to the procedure unless instructed by your doctor.

Depending on your other medical conditions you will often be discharged the same day as the procedure.
